A lot of people think making Lasagna is difficult. We’ll show you how simple it is put together.
Here are the ingredients you will need for the tastiest Lasagna you’ve ever had in your life:
1 celery stalk
2 bay leaves
salt and pepper
1 box lasagna noodles
It may seem like a lot of ingredients, but it’s very easy to put together.
Start by chopping your garlic, celery and carrots. You can do this by hand, or preferably in a food chopper.
Next, put some olive oil in a pan or Dutch oven and heat. Then add the ground sausage and brown. This helps give it flavor.
Once the sausage is browned, add the rest of the meat, and season with a good amount of salt and pepper. While browning, break it up with a wooden spoon but let it somewhat chunky.
Next you’ll want to add the garlic, onions, celery and carrots. Plus, you can then add more salt and pepper as it’s very important to season as you go along, that’s how you get a nice flavor in your sauces.
Get your pot nice and hot before you add the wine because you want the alcohol to cook off.
Then add your beef stock, which will cool everything down, followed by the tomatoes and tomato paste. Mix it all in the sauce then add a little bit a sugar which helps balance out the acidity in the tomatoes.
You don’t have to add sugar, but it gives it a nice flavor.
Next add the 2 bay leaves and fresh basil. Then let it simmer for about an hour while stirring it every now and then while you cook your Lasagna noodles and get everything else ready..
When cooking the lasagna noodles, first get the water boiling. Then add a big handful of salt because you the water to be nice and salted.
Next, add the noodles and cook for about five minutes, just till they’re soft and their pliable. Don’t overcook. You want them nice and al dente, so they don’t get mushy. You want the noodles to hold up when it bakes in the oven.
Then give the noodles a cool rinse under water and a little drizzle of olive oil. Then you will be ready to assemble the Lasagna.
Start by making the filling for the Lasagna by putting the ricotta in a bowl. Next, add the eggs, about a half cup of grated cheese, and about a half cup of fresh parsley. Mix that up and season with a little bit of salt and pepper. That’s going to be your filling.
In a 9 X 13 baking, spray with a little bit cooking spray. Start by putting in layer of sauce on the bottom. Then add a layer of noodles, overlapping them, sort of like roof shingles.
Next add a layer of your ricotta (filling), a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese, and a sprinkle of grated mozzarella.
Then add another layer of sauce and just repeat the layering process until you get to the top. It’s best to place the noodles perpendicular across with each noodle layer.
Next, cover with tin foil and bake in a 350 degree oven for about 30 or 40 minutes until it’s hot and bubbly. Then uncover it, put the rest of your mozzarella on the top, and bake it uncovered for about 10-15 minutes until it Brown’s or the cheese melts.
You see how easy that was to make? The lasagna in the oven so all the hard work is done. Now you can spend time with the family, or relax to a glass of wine before dinner.
